Online Media and Global Communication (OMGC) celebrated its fifth anniversary during the 9th Annual Conference on Image Studies and Global Communication, held at Shanghai International Studies University, Shanghai, China, on June 27, 2026.
The anniversary celebration featured a keynote speech by OMGC's Founding Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Louisa Ha, who looked back on the journal's remarkable five-year journey. She highlighted OMGC's rapid development into a globally recognized, Scopus-indexed journal committed to advancing inclusive scholarship and fostering dialogue across diverse academic communities. She also shared her vision for the journal's future and expressed her hope for continued collaboration with scholars worldwide.
To recognize the dedication and contributions that have supported the journal's growth, Dr. WU Ying, Dean of the School of Journalism and Communication at SISU, and Dr. JIANG Xiaohua, Vice Director of the Office of Research at SISU, presented certificates of appreciation to members of the editorial team at the conference, including Dr. Louisa Ha, Dr. GUO Ke, Dr. CHEN Peiqin, Dr. YAN Yining, Dr. LI Xiaomeng, and Dr. SUO Gefei. Certificates were also prepared in recognition of the contributions of associate editors Dr. PAN Ji and Dr. Lisa Bolz, who were unable to attend the event.
Representatives of the OMGC Editorial Board, Dr. LI Zhi of Communication University of China and Dr. Bushra Hameedur Rahman of Beaconhouse National University, Pakistan, also received certificates in recognition of their continued support. The certificates were presented by Dr. WANG Yilin, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Journalism and Communication at SISU, and Dr. SUN Haiqin, Assistant to the Director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Committee at SISU.




The celebration marked an important milestone in OMGC's development and reaffirmed the journal's commitment to promoting innovative research, international collaboration, and inclusive knowledge production in global communication.
On the same day, OMGC also organized a roundtable titled Publishing Ethics in the Age of AI: Challenges and Issues, bringing together nine scholars involved in English-language academic publishing from China and abroad. The participants exchanged perspectives on the ethical challenges posed by artificial intelligence in scholarly publishing, including authorship, peer review, research integrity, and the responsible use of generative AI, highlighting the importance of maintaining high ethical standards in an evolving publishing landscape.
